Whats the best way to take over student loan payments from parents?

When I attended college my student loans were put in my fathers name.

Now that I have graduated, I would like to take over the payments.

The loan company (Nelnet) won’t let us and say we have to either make payments to my parents or get a personal loan to cover it.
My husband and I are considering the latter.

Any advice??

I had to pay for all 4 years of college using student loans, and now I’m paying them back @ $700/month.

Obviously, I want this payment reduced, especially while I try to find a better job than the one I got right out of college.

They’re all from Sallie Mae, but they’re multiple loans. Can I consolidate multiple loans from the same company? They all have separate interest rates.

Is there anything else that I can do to lower my monthly student loan payments?

I am a single parent who just finished college. I have $60k in student loans and no savings to speak of. I have an amazing offer to purchase a home for what the current owner owes on it, but I don’t know where to even start looking for a bank/agency who will give me a loan with my background. Any advice?
