Do you have a account with any bank? If you don’t then you need to open an account with one. They are one likely to cash your check if you have an account with them. If you do have an account I really don’t see why they would hold the check. I have students and when i receive a refund I go to my credit union to cash it with no problems or holds. Now there’s an idea try opening an account with the credit union with them in some cases you won’t have to open it with any funds. I didn’t and they cashed my check the same day I open the account.

if it’s written on a local bank, go to that bank and cash it..they can see that the funds are there..if not waiting is pretty standard..I have a checking account and I have to wait about 7 days to get the actual cash.
